At this point I am desperate, my chin looks and feels absolutely horrible. Around my lips aren’t much better. I had one dermatologist tell me that most likely I was licking around my lips as a child does and she could give me a bitter cream to prevent that behavior. This was my last visit to that dermatologist.
I kept having this feeling that this was either hormonal or something I was eating. I was also concerned that it could have something to do with allergies as far as cosmetics or pollen. This hunch would lead to the beginnings of my independent research.
I started researching cosmetics and eczema. Through this research I would find that preservatives, and the ingredients from sunscreen are a major culprit in skin irritations. At the time I was using Neutrogena wth an SPF in it. So I got off my make up all together and amazingly I noticed a huge improvement. The dryness was still there but not the oozing bumps. (I’ll write in more detail on this in the future with my sources)
Unfortunately this did nothing for the eczema on my legs. I had a few patches biopsied at my dermatologists suggestion. See, skin issues show up differently in each person. So what I had wasn’t behaving as she had seen before. After a few biopsies it was determined I had atopic dermatitis – which basically means, you have eczema or a rash.
One day I woke up and it had spread to my eyes. I panicked, this was getting serious. My dermatologist was booked solid so they booked me with the Physicians Assistant. He was better than any of the dermatologists I had seen. He fully examined me and asked “has anyone talked to you about allergies”. He felt sure this was being caused by an allergy. Which is what I had been saying all along.
